Mission Statement

The Mission of the Rose Program is to meet challenging at-risk girls where they are “in life” then help them to refocus via a uniquely designed program just for their school, group, or organization. Our charge is to sponsor activities and workshops to encourage better decision making concerning academic achievement, positive social choices and just being the best person that they can be.

The Ebony & Ivory Rose Mentor Program (founded in 1990) is a subsidiary of LEAD which cultivates girls in an environment that is safe, student friendly, and age appropriate. Learning is maximized when school functions and school personnel focus on meeting the individual needs of students.

My mission for leaders and the mentor program does not differ much from my professional objectives as an administrator. LEAD focuses on the importance of leaders to have a thorough understanding of the practical applications of developing more positive relations among different groups in our communities and schools.

In these difficult social and economic times, we understand that there is much at stake concerning the success of our girls.  The Rose Mentor Program has been designed to serve the purpose of this crucial concern.  The program was originally introduced as an enrichment series that promoted positive self-behavior in girls grades 8 - 12.  It encourages leadership, strong academic success and an overall positive adjustment towards personal attitude and aptitude.

As a former School Administrator, Director, Dean and Classroom teacher my objective was to foster and facilitate public education, nurturing a vision that all children, teachers, staff and administrators could learn and grow in a culture characterized by standards of excellence, integrity and high ethical morals.

As a mentor of challenging girls, I have watched classroom teachers observe, firsthand, behaviors change while students refocus positive energy on academic success.

A variety of practical hands-on experiences are crafted to assist with unique strategic visions of change. My experiences and expertise have also been used to serve on executive boards throughout the community.

As the mentor program has been organized to assist challenging girls with decision making skills and academic concerns, it has proven to help schools with:

  • consistent traffic to the dean’s or advisor’s office
  • changing most poor classroom behavior into positive behavior
  • supporting teachers with classroom management
  • conflict management solutions
  • positive social choices
  • behaviors that lead to fights and or ongoing controversy
  • reduce the suspension rate
  • parental involvement

The Mentor Group has been highly effective when working with girls that are “at-risk” and other challenging behaviors. The program provides and equips girls with the following services:

  • Conflict management solutions
  • Positive social choices
  • Peer pressure
  • Support for “high traffickers” to discipline office
  • Classroom behavior concerns
  • Reduce suspension rates
  • Increase Academic Achievement
  • Career Goals
  • Overall decision-making skills

We look forward to working with each participant each year and watching them have fun while working toward positive social and academic changes.
